E-Mag, Issue #5, 5/10/92 Interview With RaD Man Well, First of all tell us the history of ACiD Productions: - Well, ACiD was founded in 1990, in September when I was on the phone with Shadow Demon. Shadow Demon had told me that he thought it was time to disband and start up our on group, due to the fact that the real president (Zyphril) was not paying attention to what was going on. In fact, most people thought that I was the president, or should be since I was recruiting all of the members out of California. Later on that week I was on the phone with Grimm talking about the idea of a new group, and I came up with the acronym "ANSi Creators in Demand". We all agreed to it, so I then contacted Phantom, Shadow Demon and The Beholder, and here we are today as ACiD Productions. The Five Original ACiD Members were: Shadow Demon, Grimm, The Beholder, and myself. The Original Headquarters were XTC Systems for Western and PCP Systems for the East Coast. Where the hell did you guys find JED?: -I found him a little over a year ago on a board called Insomniac's Dream in LA. I first took notice of him when I came across some of his Circuits Edge ansi's. I wrote him in email to apply and he was voted in. Later on I taught him the ins and outs of "Overlay" animation, or "Slides". And from there he took his creativity and gift to draw and put that together with the skills that he had acquired from ANSIMation, and since then improved from there. At what point do you think that ACiD was at it's peak?: - I believe that there never is really a "peak" for any groups that have been around for a long time. I think it really has to do with the time of the year (for example when school starts, Christmas time, and summer break.) Not to mention the standards for artwork are always being raised, and computer media art's quality just increases over time. Who do you feel is/was ACiD's greatest artist?: - I would say that for Still's it's Maleovent Trickster, as for ansimation, Shadow Demon and JED are the best. As for VGA, i would say, Revalation. Who do you think is the best group ?: -SDA has the best leadership quality's for their group. MiRAGE is uprising, and has great new artists, and iCE has alot more room to grow, with the new leader, Venom. So in all, who do you think is the best? ?: -Well, for VGA, I would vote iCE, they have some of the better artists in the VGA field. As far as ANSi goes, I would have to say SDA. Besides ACiD Members, who are your favorite artists?: -Hmmm... Well, there aren't really that many artists that I'm that impressed with that arent already in ACiD. Although I would have to say Eight Ball is a good VGA artist, and I was impressed with the high-res loader for INC by Damon. What are ACiD's plans for the future?: -Lets see, in the near future, (June or July 1992) we have planned an ACiD Newsletter, Issue Two. It will be programmed by the X-iNSANiTY mag programmer, the Lord of Peasants. Basically, it is going to be targeted towards people who want to know whats going on in the ACiD Scene. It will be an ACiD/Art oriented newsletter, not just another game review mag. As far as long term plans go, in the late future, I would like to turn ACiD Productions around as a real world graphics/advertising company. Right now we have a registered trademark. Could you give the complete ACiD Member list?: -Okay, the Senior Staff members are: RaD MaN, Black Spyrit, and Honus Wagner. And our artists and other members are: Butcher, Briareos, Camber, Force Ten, JED, KingPin, Lord Of Peasents, Marshal Law, Mondoman, Mystic Warrior, Navajo, Osiris, Revalation, Slam Dunk, Spectral Illusion, Stealer Of Souls, TANK, The Devastator, The Gatekeeper, The Hawk, The Maleovent Trickster, The Manufacturer, The Mirage, The Road Warrior, Tracer, Triton, Zed Nitro.
